The understanding of drawing is further addressed through the use of selected elements of theory, which will help to create harmony between head, heart and practice of drawing.
Students found the stimulating approach created a relaxed but professional atmosphere that made drawing interesting and successful.

2. SUMMER LANDSCAPE Hidden Sussex

Come and retreat into and experience the heart of rural Sussex landscape: The environment is peaceful and stunning, rich with wildlife and wild flowers.Where we paint is dictated by the elments, so exact places have to be decided on last minute. Everyone, whatever ability will be able to complete either a series of resolved studies or at least one resolved work by the end of the day. You will need to come prepared for an outside landscape experience; bring a camping stool and portable easel if you have one, umbrella, sunshade ect. Oils are the best medium as acrylics dry out too quickly. Please be aware that we may not always be near a loo, perhaps a few mins drive to a nearby pub. You will also need a packed lunch, flask ect

WALK'n CHALK: AUGUST 2009 £30 Meet at 10 am, finish working at 4.00pm. Come prepared for any weather and any eventuality! Whatever the weather, we will get out and walk along a stretch of the old Coach Road at the base of The South Downs, stopping to make sketches at the best spots. This is a real opportunity to get out and experience working in the heart of the South Downs. You do need to be fairly fit and able to walk about 2.5 miles. I suggest chalk pastels on pastel or cartridge paper min 160gsm. The simpler the materials and less baggage the better! Note from Sylvia Hello Susie

Just had to let you know how much I enjoyed last weekend's landscape painting course. Painting outside in the South Downs was a lovely experience and so inspirational. I came away with a great sense of achievement because in the past landscape painting has been a challenge to me. It was a pleasure being in such beautiful surroundings with a group of very nice people, not forgetting to mention the excellent tuition!
